Liberal Studies


BA / BBA (Hons.)
During the initial years of undergraduate program, the students get exposure to around 30 subjects ranging from Communication Skills, Basic Science, Social Sciences, Management, Humanities and Performing Arts. The last years of the program focus on the major and minor subjects of the students' choice.

interdisciplinary nature of the course equips students with a skill set that enables them to explore multiple career options. Besides the UGC recognized degrees awarded (based on the selection of major areas of study), the Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University will also award a Diploma in Liberal Arts.

B.Com.(Hons.) 
As the global market is becoming volatile and more demanding every day, career opportunities are also expanding and are becoming more demanding. Mere discipline focused knowledge is not enough; one is required to develop holistic understanding of the world through interdisciplinary pursuit and industry-academia interface. In the era of globalization, any endeavor in commerce or business would surely be impacted by international influences. Economy of a country, Financial issues, Trade Policies, Culture, Demography and Geography of the country influence commercial activities. Exploring Bachelor of Commerce with interdisciplinary focus would expand the horizontal as well as vertical opportunities in career for the students and would enable them to bring applied research aspect to the industry. School of Liberal Studies at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University offers B.Com. (Hons.) Program is in the globally recommended format and pedagogy.

MA - Master of arts
PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
Relevance of Public Administration has grown immensely since the inception of human civilization, its role has increased and changed from doer/provider to regulator of services in the present times. With the present and future perspective on demand-driven administrative processes in sight, a two – year master’s degree programme in Public Administration (With specialization in Public Policy and Governance) is being offered by the School of Liberal Studies, PDPU.

POLITICAL SCIENCE-INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS
A two-year master's degree programme in Politics and International Relations gives importance to International Relations while imparting knowledge on vital aspects of Political Science. The papers are prepared in a manner to cope with the fast changing developments at the global scenario, generate orientations in politics and explore new horizons in the field of international relations.

ENGLISH
A two – year master’s degree programme in English literature, designed as per the model course curriculum of UGC prepared to challenge the creativity and imagination of students. The programme opens up an entire panorama of visual arts, theatre arts, science, psycho- analysis, philosophy and films with reference to English literature.

CATEGORIES OF PH.D. STUDENTS:
The University admits students for Ph. D. programme under the following categories:

REGULAR (FULL-TIME): 
This category refers to the candidates who work full time for their Ph.D. and may receive fellowship/assistantship from the University as per its policy or fellowship from CSIR/UGC or any other recognized funding agency or may be self financed.

SPONSORED STUDENTS (FULL-TIME): 
A candidate in the category is sponsored by a recognized R&D organization, national institute, academic institution, govt. organization or industry for doing research in PDPU on a full time basis. He is required to have at least two years of working experience in the respective field. He will not receive any financial support from the University. Sponsorship letter (Form-I) should be attached with the application.

PROJECT STAFF (PART-TIME): 
This category refers to the candidates who are working on sponsored projects in any School of the University and admitted to the Ph.D. programme. The duration of the project at the time of admission should be at least 2 years.

LOCALLY & PROFESSIONALLY EMPLOYED PERSONNEL (PART-TIME): 
This category refers to the candidates who are locally and professionally employed personnel. These candidates should be able to meet supervisor(s) regularly in the University for the guidance on their research work. The applicant must be a regular employee of a recognized R&D organization, national institute, academic institution, government organization or industry at the  time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought. No financial assistance will be provided by the University to such students. “No Objection” Certificate from the Head of the Institute/Organization in which he   is employed (Form-II) must be enclosed at the time of application.

SPONSORED STUDENTS (EXTERNAL REGISTRATION)(PART TIME): 
This category refers to candidates employed in R&D organizations related to Science, Technology, & Engineering having adequate research facilities. The research work leading to the Ph.D. degree may be carried out largely in the parent organization of the candidate under a Local Supervisor from the organization but with the overall guidance and advice provided by a faculty member of the University (School Supervisor) under whom he is registered. The appointment of the Local Supervisor is to be reported to the Director General of the University through the Director of the concerned School of the University for final approval. Sponsorship certificate from the Head of the organization where the candidate is employed. (Form III) is required to be enclosed at the time  of application. No financial assistance from the University will be provided to such students.

UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES (PART-TIME):
Full time employees (Regular/Contractual) of the University may be  sponsored as part-time students by the Director General, on recommendation of the School-Director & the Dean of the concerned Faculty.
