+ Petro Cup -09

Petro Cup -09

An Inter-College Volleyball tournament for the ‘Petro Cup’ was organized at the Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University from 27th to 30th March 2009. The event was proposed with the objective of cultivating team spirit and sporting atmosphere. Almost 14 institutes from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar participated in the event. Teams were divided in two pools and round robin was held in each pool. IIT Gandhinagar, IIM Ahmedabad, Institute of Hotel Management Gandhinagar, Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Gujarat National Law University, Nirma University, Indus Institute of Technology and Ahmedabad Institute of Technology participated with the host team. Final was played on 30th March between Nirma University and the host team. Team SPT won the cup. DN Sai Srinu walked away with the award for ‘Best Setter’ and Bhuvnesh Pal was named the ‘Best Spiker’.

The league was a result of constant interest in the game by a sizable populace of basketball lovers. The league saw five teams as participants.
• Warriors
• Falcon Ballers 'A'
• Falcon Ballers 'B'
• Armada
• The Scorers
The five teams played each other, after which 'The Warriors' were eliminated. The four teams remaining played each other with 'The Scorers' and Falcon Ballers 'A', emerging finalists.
The final was won by Falcon Ballers 'A', with 'The Scorers' finishing runners up. Arjun Yadav of Falcon Ballers 'A' won the 'Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award.

E-Sports tournament was the joint initiative of the e-sports club, SPTG and the Sports Committee, SPTG. E-Games like Counter Strike 1.6 and FIFA – 08 was organized. Team OMFG won the CS game and Siddhant Goyal won FIFA – 08.

Organized by Sports Committee, SPTG, it was an endeavour for TT players of PDPU to showcase their talent. The event saw the registration of 154 participants which constitutes 25% of total student body of PDPU. The winners are as follows:
