Dr. Lalita Ledwani is carrying out research on natural products. She has isolated and characterized various plant constituents with the help of chromatographic and spectroscopic methods. She has developed more than hundred shades of natural dyes form root and barks extracts of different plants species on wool. She also has been working on Bio-fuels from some indigenous oilseeds.

Recently, she has started work on plasma surface modification of polymers to enhance its properties at atmospheric pressure and extraction of hydrocarbons by using different methods. Atmospheric pressure plasma process has attracted great interest due to its low cost, high processing speed and simple operating system which does not require costly vacuum equipments. Also, currently she is working on extraction of hydrocarbons by using different methods.

Research:
Prof. Lalita Ledwani has got technical approval from DST for the project entitled "Plasma surface modification for polyester fiber and fabric to enhance dye uptake properties with natural dyes". Time duration for the project is three years.
Proposed Budget for the project is Rs 35,00,000.00
