Dr. Anupam Kumar Singh is working as Professor in Water Engineering, Civil Engineering Department at PDPU Gandhinagar since Nov 2011. Dr Singh has obtained Doktor Ingeneur (PhD) and MS both from University of Karlsruhe Germany (www.kit.edu). Earlier, he has graduated in Civil Engineering from KN Institute of Technology Sultanpur and obtained PG Diploma in Urban & Regional Planning from Technical University of Szczecin, Poland.

Dr Singh has over 20years of professional experience in industry, research and academia. In his earlier assignments, Dr Singh has been associated with University of Karlsruhe-Germany, IWMI Colombo- Sri Lanka, School of Planning & Architecture New Delhi, Nirma University Ahmedabad and Government of Madhya Pradesh. He has undertaken professional studies for GTZ (currently GIZ-Germany), DSE (currently IntWent-Germany), DFID-UK, European Union, FAO/RAPA-Bangkok, USAID, ICARDA Aleppo-Syria, Government of India (MoEF, MoES, DST, ISRO), and Government of Gujarat (SSNNL, GWRDC, CRD, R&B).

During 2-decades of professional experience, Dr Singh has guided several PhD and PG students successfully. He has authored/co-authored 1 book on Decision Support Models for Ungauged Catchment in India (2004), 21 publications in peer-review journals and book chapters, 32 conferences proceedings and 12 technical notes. He is Associate Editor of International Journal of Water Resources and Environmental Management and reviewers for Journal of Hydrology, Current Science, Journal of Applied Hydrology, Journal of Agro-meteorology, Journal of Hydrologic Science, Journal of Indian Society of Remote Sensing, Journal of Geomatics and Disaster Bulletin.

Dr Singh has conducted several training and capacity building programs funded by World Bank, European Union, Government of India, ISTE and Government of Gujarat for service engineers, industry professionals and academic fraternity. He has been on the Board of Studies (BOS) at Nirma University and MS University Baroda, and Faculty coordinator for Civil Engineering Student Association. Dr Singh has been on the board of few professional societies (as honorary) viz Director-ICCSIR, Technical Advisor- TES, Vice Chairman-ISRS, Chairman Royal orchid, and Core committee on Indo-German Youth Forum Karlsruhe. He is the life member of several associations incl. Association of Hydrologists India, Association of Agro-meteorologists, Indian Meteorological Society, Institution of Engineers India, Indian Science Congress Association, Indian Society of Geomatics, Indian Society of Remote Sensing, Institute of Town Planners India, Indian Society of Technical Education, and life member of International Association of Hydrological Sciences. Dr Singh has been awarded with Best Engineering College Teacher Award (2009) ISTE New Delhi, Best poster award SIWI Stockholm (2002) and INSAFS Hyderabad (2008). He has received fellowships from DAAD & DFG (Germany), GATE (India), NAUKA (Poland), MEXT (Japan), and EPFL (Switzerland).

Dr Singh is a staunch researcher and have research interest in the area of rainfall modeling & climate impact assessment, Urban flooding and storm water management, Rainfall-runoff process understanding, Coastal aquifer interaction, Remote sensing in water systems, and Planning & policy issues in water resources systems. He has completed 10 research projects as PI/Co-PI or Core team member on the themes such as Satellite derived runoff, Soil moisture estimation, Flood warning and flood risk mapping, Reservoir and canal operations, Hydrological modeling and climate impact, Water conservation and water harvesting, and Remote sensing.
