Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Former President of India was the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, who was the Guest of Honour, Eminent Scientist, Bhatnagar Fellow and member of Board of Governors Dr.R.A. Mashelkar who officiated for the President of the University, Shri Ramanlal Vora, Hon’ble Minister of Education for Gujarat and Shri Saurabhbhai Patel, Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Gujarat.

In an inspirational convocation address, the Chief Guest, Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam encouraged the students to build energy independent India. Hypnotized large audience of graduates, students, faculty, staff and guests listened with rapt attention as Dr. Kalam wished bright and meaningful careers to the future energy leaders of India.

In an emotional speech, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi talked about the energy crises the world is passing through. He shared his vision of making Gujarat the academic hub to fulfill energy requirements of the world. He urged the young leaders in the energy sector to make Gujarat their ‘Karmbhumi’ with which they have an emotional bonding.

Dr. R.A.Mashelkar greeted the dignitaries, guests, graduates, faculty, students and staff and stressed on the vital importance of energy sector in the Global Economy. The Director General of the

University, Shri. Fattechand B.Virani, a reputed scholar of Oil and Gas Industry presented a report of the university describing the impressive achievements and the future plans of the University. The ceremony ended with dinner where graduating students got an opportunity to meet the dignitaries present.

The road to glory and achievements has just begun for PDPU. Long and determined journey with a strong commitment to the global requirements lies ahead!
