PDPU launched the
School of Nuclear Energy and announced the commencement
of its first batch of Masters in Nuclear Engineering
Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar
officially launched the School of Nuclear Energy and
announced the commencement of its first batch of Masters
in Nuclear Engineering on 9th October, 2009, coinciding
with celebrations marking the University’s establishment
on very same day 2 years ago. The launch function held
at the University was graced by Mr. Prabhat Kumar, Project
Director, BHAVINI, Nuclear Power Corporation of India
Limited, who was the chief guest on the occasion and
Mr. D. J. Pandian, M.D., Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation
and Vice Chairman GERMI. Also in attendance were select
senior scientists and luminaries who have made major
contributions to India’s Nuclear Energy Programme.
9th October gave another reason to celebrate in the
campus.
The chief objective of introducing the 2 year residential,
M-Tech programme in Nuclear Engineering is to create
a talent pool of trained nuclear engineers towards further
strengthening India’s Nuclear Energy initiatives.
The course was devised in consultation with Senior Industry
Resources, Scientists and Sector Analysts from the nuclear
energy domain. The 2 year postgraduate program is divided
into 4 semesters in which students shall get exposure
to 20 subjects ranging from advanced mathematical applications
in nuclear engineering to Turbine generator and feed
water systems. In the last semester the degree course
shall focus on dissertation, seminars and industrial
project work.
