PDPU organized de-briefing session on International Exposure Program 2010 in presence of Mr. D. Rajagopalan, Former CS, Chairman, SSNNL, Mr. D.J. Pandian, Chairman, Standing committee, Ms. Parul Fernandes, University of Houston. The discussion mainly focused on the learning experiences of the students who were a part of the International Exposure Programme.

Weatherford team visit PDPU
Weatherford’s Team including Mr. Abhijit Banerjee-Country Manager HR, Mr. Jigar Thakkar-Poduct Line Manager Completion, Mr. Himanshu Amaliyar-HR Co-ordinator and Ms. Madhumita Deb-Recruitment Specialist visited PDPU campus. They gave a brief power point presentation on RFID. SSD & ICDN Technology and also wonderfully explained new technical innovations happening in Oil & Gas Industry.

Proscenium – Soul Pepper
SOUL PEPPER – the PDPU Theatrics Club gives everybody an opportunity to re-invent their talent on the stage, be it through drama, dance or music. The Proscenium Drama competition began on the 17th August which will soon be followed by the Bhangra classes by CAMARADERIE, Soul Pepper Bhangra troupe Western Dance Classes As the name suggests, Soul Pepper aims at bringing a refreshing wind of change all around its presence through theatrical activities that go on in the PDPU Campus all round the year. The club proposes events for cultivating different skills like – acting, dancing, singing, script writing, dialogue-delivery, stagecraft, and costume designing, to name a few. Various genres like – skit, one-act play, mime, satire, street play, and folk drama are practiced. Also many kinds of dances are practiced, like Classical, Folk and Western. Soul Pepper also participates in inter-college/inter-university events and brings glory to PDPU. Camaraderie – The Soul Pepper Bhangra Troupe has won all the competitions it has participated in, till date, giving it a 100% success rate. Time and again workshops are arranged for all who are interested.

VGA Club begins
An introductory session to VGA was conducted on 16th august 2010 for the students of PDPU. During this period they were given a brief idea about the activities going on in VGA. Also various important dates for the opening and closing of memberships were announced.

Till now various music videos and short documentaries have been produced by VGA like “Friends Forever”, “Wake up India”-On patriotism, “Let Her Not Be Born Again”-based on save the girl child, which were deeply appreciated by various chair persons and Government of Gujarat. Various VGA activities includes showcasing of short films ,competitions, photographic documentation of university, workshops and providing technical aspects of video library.

Basically VGA deals with photographic and video documentation of all cultural, technical and sports events organized at the campus. VGA deals with the noble cause of spreading the message of community development by organizing film festivals on campus.

Different activities like introductory sessions to VGA, show case and discussion, moment photography competition, script writing competition, editing competition, mobile clips competition are going to occur in near future.

NSS Activities
NSS-SPT in partnership with GUJARAT FOREST RESEARCH DEPARTMENT conducted a two day environment camp for its new students on 7th- 8th August, 2010.

On 7th August students went through three lectures by various forest officers in Training hostel near akshardham mandir. They were demonstrated how the various climate changes hve affected our planet earh.

On 8th August students were taken to Vijaynagar polo forest where they were shown live the various elements of environment.

It was a very refreshing time for the students as they were able to get the true knowledge of Environment.

SPM students organize Blood Donation Camp
The blood donation camp was organized on 30th july, 2010 at School Of Petroleum Management, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. It was organized with the help of members from Prathama Blood Centre with the students of SPM. 17 volunteers along with the Prathama team performed the task meticulously. Since last three consecutive years, Prathma has been organizing this camp at SPM. The students of all five schools as well as the staff actively participated for the noble cause. In all 208 units of blood was donated this time.
